When the temperature drops, the flu season is in full swing and black ice is everywhere, it is easy to get a little worried about protecting your baby and yourself during your winter pregnancy. Do not worry; we've got you for your winter pregnancy. With the season in mind, we have compiled some suggestions to help you stay safe, healthy and happy in the midst of a winter landscape.
1. Dress for the weather : While it may be tempting to try and stretch your clothing through your pregnancy, a winter coat is an element who do not transition well. If you become pregnant during the coldest months, invest in a maternity coat that will keep you and your baby warm!
2. If you are sick, take something : When you are pregnant, everything you catch lasts a little longer because your immune system is suppressed. Consult the pharmacist to determine which OTC medications are safe during pregnancy. Claritin, Chlor-Trimeton, Benadryl, Tylenol and saline drops all have been deemed safe for consumption by pregnant women.
3. If you are sick, stay at home : While we could try to endure the office, under normal circumstances, it is best not to push it during your pregnancy. If you do not feel well, do yourself (and your colleagues) a favor and stay home.
4. Feed your body and your baby : If it is your thing, the winter months make for a great time to stay inside and try all the recipes you have been stashing away. Cozy with a pot of (decaffeinated) tea and get creative in the kitchen!
5. Go to a warm place : If you are still in your 1 st or 2 e quarter when the cooling of hits winter, consider escape a warmer climate for a week or two. Although we can not bring the spring faster, pre-baby tropical getaway may be just the injection, you (and your partner) need to get through the winter months.
