As part of a commitment to help improve the lives of children, Centre Sunnybrook health sciences in partnership with RBC for a new fundraising event. Over $ 1 million was collected during the first RBC annual race for children than the runners took laced their shoes for a 5 km and 25 km of the race weekend.
Sunnybrook intends to use donations to establish the Family Navigation Project, a program to help young consulting with mental health disorders or substance abuse. The project is led by Dr. Anthony Levitt, who is one of the successes of Sunnybrook psychiatrists and identifies more than 2 million young Canadians who are unable to receive specialized treatment to address their needs.
"This is, in large part, because families do not know where to go or how to get the services their children need. The family navigation project will give young people with mental health problems and their families a place to start and a path to follow. "
the partnership with Sunnybrook RBC helped make the event a success and also assured the special guests were on hand to support the cause. Many Nickelodeon characters SpongeBob Squarepants including Dora the Explorer and were present, and also recruited RBC Canadian Olympic athletes who were once sponsored by the bank.
Sunnybrook also made headlines recently this month by announcing a partnership with Insception Lifebank the cord blood banking program. The hospital is committed to improving the quality of life for children who face both physical and mental illnesses.
