Mount Sinai Hospital, one of the centers of the most established Health Sciences in Toronto, was the recipient of a special donation earlier this month. The founders of the Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts gave an incredible $ 10 million to Mount Sinai, to fund research and care against cancer.
Rosalie and Isadore Sharp founded and chairs the Four Seasons Hotel. But the couple went through a tragedy in 1978, when their youngest son, Christopher died after being diagnosed with melanoma.
The Sharps hope to avoid similar tragedies in other families, and the gift of $ 10 million will be used to develop a new wing Health at Mount Sinai called "cancer center Christopher Sharp.
Preliminary information on Mount Sinai, the new cancer center will allow cancer surgery, medicine and Mount Sinai research programs to work together in a wing. The objective is to develop special programs to oncology research new sources of therapy for a number of cancers found in the human body.
In a statement announced alongside the donation, the Sharps shared the pain of losing their son, and they hope to help other families avoid a similar loss.

Mount Sinai believes that the new cancer center will service up to 2000 surgical patients, and up to 4,000 patients in chemotherapy.
