The volunteers raised money for cancer research in a fundraising event sponsored by Be The Match to Shaker Heights Ohio. The event was held Saturday, July 27, despite the gray weather, providing the audience from one scene to turn their eyes to.
We askedvolunteers to raise a minimum of $ 1,000, which would go in search of a new potential therapy derived from bone marrow and umbilical cord blood. The event was called 'Over The Edge,' where participants revised down the tall East Tower in downtown Shaker Heights.
East Tower is the tallest building of the city, measuring about 50 meters high. Over the Edge provided participants with rope and harness to scale down the north end of the building, starting with the top 12th floor. Friends, family, colleagues, and supporters of cancer research have all been invited to engage their gifts, and visit the tower on Saturday to show their support.
Be The Match is a national fundraiser that raises money to help patients with clinical disease in need of cord blood bone marrow or stem cell transplant. The game helps to break down barriers to help more patients find viable donors, and potentially receive a life-changing therapy.
